Brief Description:  Re-Scrub and Prime

I was not able to prime the pieces within 24 hours, and so I had to re-scrub everything. It was much easier this go around since i didn't have any AlClad to remove.

I then went into the shop later that evening and sprayed the parts with my primer. I use AKZO Nobel 2-part epoxy primer. It's aerospace-grade, super-hard, scratch resistant, bonds well, and should stick around forever. It's also very expensive.

I have two 1-gallon paint cans of each component. I pour from each can into two measuring cups, then pour the two measuring cups into the mixing cup as a 1:1 ratio. I mix it well, add some thinner (amount isn't important, but roughly 20%), then let it sit for 30 minutes in the container while it "inducts". It's an exothermic reaction that allows the two liquids to become epoxy and actually bond once sprayed. After the 30 minutes, I stir again, attach it to my spray gun, adjust the spray pattern, and go to town!

The spray isn't perfect, there's some running here and there but so long as the surface is coated I don't really care. This isn't a paint job; it's a hidden protective layer that nobody will know about. Except you. You know.

I'll do the spars tomorrow.
