Re-installed tailboom. I am having to spread two of the airframe tubes which hold the tailboom brackets approximately 7/8" in order to have the tailboom slide into place. This is the pilot's side upper and passenger's side lower. I spoke with Mark at RWI and explained fthe concern I had concerning expanding 7/8" and it said that it was not a problem. Additonally I bent 3 of the tailboom brackets slightly to fit flush with the tailboom surface. No heat to be used on the brackets since they are tempered steel.
I fabricated two spreaders to simplify the removal and installation of the tailboom. Two blocks of wood drilled to accept a threaded rod with washers and nuts to spread the tailboom brackets apart. Two sets of the spreaders were placed diagonally between the airframe tubes. Now the removal or installations is a snap.
