Brief Description:  Idler Pulley Mounting

Finished installing the airframe and torquing and sealing the bolts.

I began working on the mounting of the idler pulley. When I originally drilled the upper hole I ended up oversized and off center. The idler pulley was aligned perfectly when the bolt was tightened however there was play in the upper hole that was not acceptable.

After considerable thought I decided to place a bushing in both holes. This would allow future replacement as wear occurs. I reamed the holes to the proper size and then on the metal lathe I sized the length of the bushings. The proper length bolt was then ordered (NAS 6605-43 which fits just a bit more snug than the same size AN bolt).

The only decision now is if the upper hole is too close to the edge of the bracket. To be continued...
