Brief Description:  Tailboom Bracket Alignment

During installation of the tailboom it was found that only three of the four brackets were in proper contact with the tailboom. Bending the offending bracket was not possible because it was already parallel to the tailboom yet 3/4" away. After much head scratching and research I discovered that the four airframe tubes in which the brackets would go were not equidistant diaganolly. One measurement was 5/8" greater than the other diagonel. Rotorway technical support suggested that the one airframe tube (lower right passenger) be heated and bent. This is the only one of the four arms that is not diagaonally braced and can be readily adjusted. This was done and worked beautifully. My good friend, Clark Richter, was beginning his tailboom installation and we measured his diagonals first and found the same problem. A quick heat and bend and the tailboom was installed in 1/10 the time of mine. Such is life!
