Brief Description:  Center Rib Lightening Hole Flanges

I flanged all my 0.025" Center Ribs using my Lightening Hole Jig (LHJ) 3000 tonight. Also got to try out my oval jig for hole "E". Worked great. I had made this a seperate jig mainly so if I screwed it up, I wouldn't have ruined my larger LHJ 3000.

Had to quick make another male die for hole "A & B" as mine started to grab the flange on the rib. Just a quick 15 minutes with the fly cutter and the router table and I was back in business.

After doing all the lightening holes, it was time to flatten the ribs to remove the taco shape. Just like with my nose ribs, I used my 3x rivet gun and the wooden-tipped set. Just remember to turn the compressor output down to about 35-40 psi and do your work on a very smooth surface.

I then used the joggle tool created last weekend to joggle the forward ends of the Center Ribs at the Spar Flange contact area.

I also had to remove a crack that I had induced in Center Rib #7 Right at the aft jig pin hole. This happened when I was initially routing the piece. Apparently I had tried to force the #10 bolt into the hole with having the rib blank lined up just so. Bolt caught the edge of the hole and formed a crack. Just drilled it out and sanded everything smooth. Perfectly legal and accepted repair.
