Brief Description:  Nose rib blanks and a few final nose ribs!

Spent the rest of the day puttering on (rough) cutting out nose rib blanks. I used a pneumatic set of shears from Harbor Freight. Well worth the money. I tried to hand shear a couple of them. Exactly two. Back to the pnuematics for me!

The shears turn like a school bus, so the blanks were larger than is economically perfect, so there is some wasted material. But out of the 4x12 sheet I was able to create 46 ribs and two extras and still have about a 2x4 sheet left for lots of rib stiffeners. Should be plenty.

To test my concepts, I routed 6 ribs to final shape. I did 2 in one group and 4 in another. I think 4 was too many. I could get away with doing 3 at a time, but I think I'll just take it easy on my bits and my router.

I used a 1/2" shank, 1/2" diameter bit. After seeing the results at the forward end of the flange, I will be re-routing all nose rib blanks (just that little area) with a 1/4" diameter bit. The transition may not crack as it stands now, but with a 1/4" diameter, I'm sure it won't.

The thing about routing is that it's incredibly messy. And the little chips coming off of there are sharp and hot! But, after seeing the result, I would not want to create my ribs any other way. They come out almost production quality.
