Brief Description:  Complete booth, spray sample

Completed spray booth. Installed lights on the sides and more inlet filters. Seems to have good air flow,

Sprayed primer on my sample of melamine after scuffing it with a red scotch bright pad. Painted wotj the Silver Ice color. Shot too heavy, no runs but it did not cure quickly. Let it set up over an hour and taped the pattern from my wing tip pounce pattern. Taped over some pounce chalk in the lower right as a test. Sprayed the red, black, black tri coat, and gold with its tri coat.

Still shooting to heavy. Need to speed up my arm a lot with the new gun. I guess my previous HVLP type put out a lot less paint. No runs, not even close, but still too wet.

Sprayed two coats of clear coat. Got some orange peel. Either too much clear coat or not enough pressure. Upped pressure 5 psi and still got it. Need to speed up.

Image 2 has the end result. It looks good except the tape I used to mask left something on the silver color. You can see the tape in the finished color when looking at an angle. Either I did not clean it enough before clearcoat or the tape went on too early and the base coat was still ofgassing solvent. Given that it was cleaned with grease/wax remover and a final wipe with a special fast drying cleaner specifically designed for it, I would vote for the base coat not being completly dry. Will have to do another test or take it into the paint experts. More to come.

Without the tape issue, it looks great.
