Brief Description:  Sub Panel Side Panels

How many more times can I use the word panel in that description? Basically I created the side panels that cover all the wiring in the lower subpanel.

I created a cardboard template, then cut the plastic piece out of the spare panel piece that I had, and then heated the shit out of it to get it to go. The large radius curve that is the majority of the panel was fairly easy, but I had to be careful not to overheat it for fear of having kinks in the curve. I used a torch for all the heating, so over heating was definately an option. The bottom bends, the ones that surround the cockpit tube weren't as hard as I thought they'd be. I heated them up tot he point they were almost burning, and the put the panel in place and formed the plastic around the tube.

I was trying to avoid using any rivets to secure them, but I had to give in and put two rivets per side. That readlly helped with the gluing process since I could cleco them in place. I did not end up using the lowest 90 deg brackets I put on the lower sub panel since I wanted to be able to flex lower radius curves around the cockpit tube. I'll have to see how sturdy that ends up being, worst case I can put a rivet in there that gets drilled out when the panel is pulled or something. Not desireable, but doable.

Tomorrow I will finish bundling all the wires up under the front deck. That will be a job since I'll be on my back working, but hey, it needs to be done. These side panels were a lot less work than I anticipated, so maybe that bundling will be too!
