Brief Description: Measure ACS Nose Bowl
|
|
Have really been agonizing over what to do about a cowl... the thousand dollar carbon fiber extravaganzas that adorn many modern Tailwinds surely do look first-rate and the track-record is enviable as well, but seemed out of character for the nature of my budget-build, salvage-parts flyer. After looking a gazillion alternatives, I finally returned to reality and ordered one of the ACS nose bowls for Continental and Lycomings not running prop extensions. Running a tape measure across it, it is clearly way, way to wide and I can take up to 6-inches out of the breadth, which is sort of what I might do -- I'm going to sleep on it for a bit. I was surprised and pleased to see this appears to be the same or similar to the one Earl Luce used on his well-known Buttercup, so I'm hoping that once I narrow the nose bowl, the rest can follow his directions more or less -- simple is good, very simple is very good.
