Brief Description: Doublers, Bending, and Finding Holes
Separated and cleaned edges of HS-00003 doubles from the empennage kit (not the SB kit, as these are identical). Assembled/cleco'ed HS-702 spar channels to HS-814 and HS-810. Taking help from Mark deLevie clamped HS-00003 after marking rivet lines to left side of front spar channel and match drilled the inboard 4 rivet holes to #30. Then match drilled next 6 inboard rivet holes after cleco'ing doubler to spar. Removed and set aside right doubler and right spar channel for later. Tapered ends of HS-814 and HS-810 reinforcement angles per drawing using belt sander and scotch brite wheel on bench grinder. Next, placed the HS-814 and HS-810 individually in bench vise and hand bent the ends using HS-00003 as a guide. Used a round file and created 1/4" relief notches at the flange bend on left HS-702 spar channel and cleaned the edges. Using the same method for bending the reinforcement angles, made the bend in the HS-702 spar channel at the bend line previously marked. Reassembled the left spar channel with the doubler and reinforcement angles to confirm bend angles are true and all parts are flush.
