Brief Description: Platenuts Install And Scarf Wing Skins
Today Andrew and I started by drilling out, deburring, and dimpling the platenut holes on the remaining bottom wing skins. We used the #40 and #19 drill bit sizes and the #8 dimple die set. We then installed a total of 48 platenuts on the bottom wing panel inspection access areas....used the air squeezer on all rivets. We then hung all skins on the wing and installed the fuel tanks with a few screws to get a match fit of the scarf joint areas. We then used a dremmel tool and scotchbrite wheels to scarf all appropriate areas on all 8 wing skins...then hung them on wing again to test fit the "flushness" of the scarf joints as butted up against the fuel tank.
Cleaned up shop.
Next session will be to prime/cover all scarf joints with self etching primer, squeeze all wing spar/rib flange "Phantom" rivets, and install wiring conduit/wire pull string.
