Brief Description: Back Riveted Rudder Stiffeners & More
Today Andrew and I back riveted all of the stiffeners to the rudder skin. All rivets came out nice. We used extra caution to ensure the steel back plate was properly aligned with the rivets underneath the skin. After back riveting was complete, we assembled a bending brake just as described in the construction manual out of 2x8's. We then put the final bend onto the trailing edge of the rudder skin. We then started working on the understructure of the rudder using extra caution to cut the R-710 about 1/8" wider than the Van's plans. We learned about this by searching the Vansairforce website. Next is more work un the understructure.
