I have been having a back and forth with the FAA registration branch the Rans factory and the Title company that helping register the RANS. The factory had initially told me to make the data plate the same as if it was an amatuer built aircraft. The aircraft is an ELSA so totally different rules.
I thought I better follow the factory directions. This isn't spelled out in the manual which is why I inquired with the factory.
Any way due to some other issues with the FAA concerning the exact model name as it appears on my application, and Bill of Sale vs the listing the FAA has for SLSA aircraft, the FAA wanted a photo of the data plate. They rejected it as it said it was built by me. In further reading I did that appeared to be correct, I.E. the data plate on a ELSA should show the kit manufacturer as the Manufacturer not the Builders name.
I had to engrave a new plate, I acturally used the back side of one of the small EAA supplied stainless steel nametags.
