Brief Description:  Peeling Paint

WHAT A PAIN!

I had sprayed the top coat of white paint and suffered through some runs and orange peel (my fault, I'm sure) and was working towards fixing those (ie: sanding and repainting) when I noticed a little slip of paint hanging off the right-rear side of the fuselage. While investigating that, I found that the paint would peel off. The top coat was not sticking to the Ekofill very well at all!

I started taking a wooden tongue depressor a gently scraping in various areas, and found lots of problems.

The first picture shows what my initial finding looked like. As you can see, the paint is coming off in strips.

The second pircure shows more problem areas. The top coat of white paint was simply scraped with the wooden tongue depressor and it came up in strips. The dark grey area is the underlying EkoFill. The dark red areas are some filled areas.

The third picture is another example area, this time the bottom rear of the fuselage. Left center you can see an area where I continued to use the tongue depressor on the grey EkoFill and found areas where it was coming up rather easily, too. The line of grey from the far left and going up and over the side of the fuselage is an area where I was trying to see how far the problem extended. I started scraping on the bottom and kept going up...it kept going almost to the top.

So, it looks like most of the paint will have to be removed and done over!
