I found that the axle bolt was longer that was needed, so I machines a spacer that you can see in the third picture below; it's between the castle nut and the brake assembly.
On the far right of the last picture you can see a bolt that goes through the landing gear tube. That will have two wires that go between the right and left gear to keep it from splaying out much, and also another wire that will go from the front of the bolt to a point on the fuselage a few feet forward of the gear to take the braking loads and keep the gear from folding back.
