Even though it took most of the day, it is easy to condense what I did in one simple line: I deburred and dimpled all the parts for the right flap. The next step in the manual is to install the platenut to the FL-906-B bracket and FL-905 inboard rib. This will attach to a rod end that will be used to control the flap position. The K1000-4 platenut is supposed to be a 1/4" w/28 treads/inch. The K1000-4 platenuts Van's sent to me are not correct. These are probably 3/8" platenuts. I was sent 6 of these: 4 to install on the spar at the beginning of the wing build, and 1 to go on each flap. I had a problem putting the platenuts on the spar, way back when. I needed to use a larger rivet (1/8"), because the smaller rivet called out (3/32") would just swim in the hole. Van's said to use the larger rivet, but the problem was not the rivet; I was installing the wrong platenut! I called Van's and they are sending out 6 new K1000-4 platenuts. I will now have to drill the 4 out on the spars and replace them. I'm glad I realized this now and not when I was putting on the wings (sometime in the future) and the bolts not going in the platenut correctly!! Anyhow...no harm done. I had a bitch of a time putting the leading edge skins on the right flap, so I had Wendy help me on the left. I positioned the skin in place, and she inserted the clecos. After about 4 or 5, the skin was secure and we did the other skin. It's alway nice to have another pair of hands on this project......Thanks Honey!
Right flap parts dimpled and deburred
Van's sent me the wrong size plate nuts for k1000-4's. These are more like 3/8", not 1/4".
Wendy helped me put the leading edge skins on at the end of the night.
