Tonight I riveted the trailing edges of the elevators and the rudder. I started with the right elevator. I removed all the clecos and aluminum angle support. I then used M.E.K. to clean the remaining pro-seal. I then inserted the rivets on the top side and taped with rivet tape. I turned the elevator over and then back riveted every 10th rivet about half way. I then did the in-between rivets till they were all in about half-way. I then flipped the elevator over and used the mushroom set to finish the rivets. Every 2 or 3 rivets, I stopped to check the edge and see if it was still straight. I finished and the edge had just one small bend, so I hit the back with the rivet gun in that area and looked at it again....perfect! I did the left elevator and rudder the same way. This was (to me) a mile stone in the building process.......I was quite happy with the results. I must admit that the pro-seal really does keep the trailing edge straight during the riveting. All I have left to do on the empennage is to mount the trim tab and attached the elevators and rudder to the stabilizers. More tomorrow.....
Right Elevator trailing edge riveted and straight....
