Brief Description:  Prep parts for priming...

OK......I'm back. Let's just say that I'm glad last week is over.....I didn't work on the plane because I had to deal with other stuff ....

I have been getting pretty high electric bills the last 2 months and it is because of the electric heaters I have in the shop. I use to have a kerosene torpedo, but I don't know what happened to it. I did, however, get a kereosine space heater that my brother Sam had in his shed. I needed to buy a new wick for it because the last time I tried to fire it up, clouds of black sooty smoke was produced. I installed the new wick and fired it up today.....Heated the shop up in no time!

I finished deburring and dimpling the last couple of parts before I began to scotch-brite and acetone the smaller parts for priming. I use the NAPA self-etching primer on these parts. After prepping the parts, I shut off the kereosene heater and opened both the overhead door and the service door (slightly) to give a cross breeze. The temp in in the high 30's today, so I decided to prime. I used my breather and goggles and finished the parts in about 20 minutes. I then let the shop air-out before I closed the doors and fired up the heater again. I then layed all of the larger parts and skins out to begin scotch-brite cleaning. I will use the Azko epoxy on these parts. If the weather is good tomorrow, I should be able to finish up the parts cleaning and then prime. I also have to give the shop a good cleaning and vacuuming before I begin to assemble the parts. I also have to seriously think about an interior color and ordering the paint.....
