Aug 11th 2012

This week I accomplished the following on the aircraft.

1) Finished installing the newly purchased Garmin SL-40 Radio, ( this radio is made in Salem, Oregon from where I am orginally from), listed to Perry’s UNICOM 122.7 and AWOS station 123.85 for a hour or two and checked out the Pilot, Co-pilot and rear seat headset and microphone jacks. After adjusting the GMA 340’s squelch and SL-40’s volume all seemed to work correct. I requested a Radio Check and all seems “Loud and Clear” from fellow pilots flying in the Perry Apt pattern. I am still getting used to the operations of the transceiver; it has a nice memory set function and an option of monitoring the back-up (flip-flop) frequency.

2) Then installed the Manifold pressure sensor and completed the Rear Tail Intersection Fairing. And cleaning up for the final time the wire harness and bundle with black tie wraps. OK, still not done cleaning up the wire harness.

3) Changed the Pitot Heat Annunicator Panel light to be activated on the Skyview EMS screen, as the Dynon Pitiot was designed for the Dynon Skyview EMS screen and already had a place reserved in the EMS module pin out. That allows for the Dynon EMS Master Caution (Warning) Light to be routed to the old pitot annuncator light. This EMS Master Warning Light is activated if any unusual reading (Warning) are registered by the Engine Management Software.

4) Installed the Dynon Amp Shunt on the front engine fire wall so that it reads the amount of current in Amperes that the X-10 is using, this is displayed on the Skyview EMS display. Got it up to 37 Amps with as many items as I could find turned ON.

5) Thought about and checked where the Dynon Pitch and Roll Autopilot Servo’s are to be installed as these are to arrive soon. Can’t fly without the Autopilot as it’s integral with the Skyview.
Finally finishing up with all the necessary items  and waiting for the IO-540 C4B5 engine to arrive.

Time about 19 hours this week
