Brief Description:  Finally Moving the X-10 Fuselage to the Hanger

June 19th 2012

Today was the final moving day for the X-10 project to Perry Airport. The local towing company transported the completed X-10 Fuselage to the hanger using what is known in the Towing Business as a “Roll-Back” flat bed truck. The landing gear wheels were 8 ft apart so a special truck was needed. That completes the Projects hanger move except for some more tools and odd items. Also big news I finally ordered the engine (propulsion unit) for the X-10. I decided on a company named Air-Tech, Inc located in Orlando, Florida USA for the completion of a zero hour rebuilt IO-540 C4B5 with all necessary accessories. They “brake-in” or run the completed engine for 2 hours so all that’s left to do is hang the engine on the X-10 engine mount and tighten down the four Lord isolators and connect all the necessary items. Lead time is about 45 days to the rebuilt engine completion. So I have at least a month and a half to complete the final assembly of the X-10 Wings and Tail Feathers, and any other of the many little items that will need to be completed or fixed before the aircraft is airworthy.

Time about 9.0 hours of move time using a pickup and towing a trailer.
