Brief Description:  Brake Bleeding and Carpet Binding

Setup the X-10 for filling and bleeding the brakes today. The process was simple and took about 1.5 hours for both brakes (because of the learning curve).

There were many selections for brake fluid but I settled on Anderol ROYCO 782 Hydraulic Fluid or MIL-H-83282, it’s a synthetic fluid that has a flash or burn point of about 480 degree F. This is about twice the heat point as Shell 41 and others. So if something happens to the brakes they might not catch on fire. I purchased two quarts for about $10.00 each, plus shipping. I only used 1 quart to complete the process.

1) I bought a brake bleeding kit that contained a flexible clear tubing connecting the bleeder nipple to an overflow reservoir, so the brake fluid has some where to drain without air reentering the system.
2) Use a clear tube and a funnel, and rise above the brake fluid reservoir and attach to the firewall, and then into the brake fluid reservoir.
3) Open the pilot side bleed nipple, fill the funnel/ reservoir.
4) Pump with full strokes the co-pilot side brake for the left wheel, switch and pump the pilot side brake that leads to the left wheel, for a bit and repeat this process until you feel resistance in the brakes, and there is no air exiting the bleed nipple. Keep an eye on the funnel using the clear tubing to be sure that there is an ample supply of brake fluid in the reservoir. Close the bleed nipple when the brakes are hard to press and you are satisfied with the results. Repeat for the Right Brake side of the X-10.

This is the easy way to correctly bleed the brakes without using the pressure/backfill method that might damage the brake seals.

Then I ordered 45 feet of INSTABIND Carpet Binding edging material that works very well for adding an edge to the X-10 carpeting. It has a tape backing to hold it in place and then you use a hot glue gun to bind the edge to the carpeting. This method does away with the sewing he binding edges to the carpeting but has a cost of .90 cent per foot. (And I need
