Brief Description:  U-1010-L/R Main Wheel Fairing Bracket

SECTION 48-04

10/24/2010

Step 1 … I fabricated approximately 1 inch by .25” shim out of wood and covered with duc tape. Then I slid this between the Disk Brake and the U-1010-L/R Main Wheel Fairing Bracket to prevent the wheel from turning and addition backing while drilling the bracket for the wheel fairings.
Step 2 … I marked with a “Sharpie” felt pin the nutplate location on the U-1010-L/R Main Wheel Fairing Bracket as shown in figure 2.
Step 3 … Now I connected again the two U-1057 Wheel Fairings L/R Front and back together and placed into the created “V” block with the wheel paints opening upward. See figure 3 for details. Measure the mid-point at exactly 7” 1/16” from the bottom and mark this on the Wheel Fairing. After satisfied that the measurements and marking were exact I dissembled the fairings.
Step 4 … Now I fabricated two spacer that are to be placed on top of the main tires. The dimensions are 1.25 X 7/8 inch. I then wrapped the blocks with duc tape and placed then on top of the main wheels.
Step 5 … I raised and leveled the aircraft using hydraulic jacks and then a “saw” horse to an in flight “Level Flight Attitude”. The aircraft is now flying a few inches off the garage floor. The plans say zero to 1/16” of an inch raised off the floor, but I could not get the Pitch (nose to tail) attitude leveled correct unless I raised the aircraft up more. The measuring point is the door sills (F-1015C-L/R Cabin Decks). I checked this with a long type bubble level and it’s perfect.

Time about 4 hours because I was working slow.
