05/23/2012

Today I completed the Ameri-King AK-451 ELT install. I ran the phone wire to the front panel remote switch and coax-cable to the antenna that I decided to mount under the tail cone fiberglass fairing. Then according to the FAA you’re allowed 5 minutes after the top of the hour for ELT testing. I activated the Ameri-King AK-451 ELT and using a handheld AM band radio listed for the Emergency “whop-whop” tone coming from the antennas at 121 MHz frequency. This sound insures that the antenna is transmitting a receivable single from the ELT. The test needs to be kept short as after 50 second the GPS, 5 watt, 402 MHz emergency beacon is transmitted to the satellite, and then expect a phone call from SAR and the FAA Office to see what the reason for the transmission. However, there is a Web site that will receive the ELT’s transmission and certify that they received it but they charge $60.00 dollars per test.

Talked to Van’s Aircraft, Inc. about securing the Bill of Sale for aircraft serial number 40851 and they e-mailed some items that releases them from Legal Liability, sort of a “Boiler Plate” type form saying you can’t sue me no matter what (Something I will need if I sell the Aircraft). Also they e-mailed a License Certificate to build only 1 of the aircraft, this I have to Notarized. When I sent these items back to Van’s, they sent back Aircrafts 40851 “Bill of Sale” back to me. I then sent this “Bill of Sale”, and a completed original FAA Form 8050-1 Aircraft Registration Information and the X-10 Aircraft I began a few years back is now officially N700SE and ready to move to Perry Apt Hanger for completion.

Time about 3 hours because of all the existing wires are making running new wires more difficult. But I am almost done running wires from the panel to the Tail Cone.
