Brief Description:  Propeller/Spinner combination

July 6th, 2012
In the morning at the hanger I worked on the final install of the Right Wing, Flaps and Ailerons and all the items necessary to connect to them. The Right Wing went on much faster that the Left Wing due to the learning curve involved. Then in the afternoon, because of the heat, I returned home to work on the Propeller/Spinner combination as follows:
SECTION 47: Spinner & Cowling
47-02
Step 1) I located the S-602B Double Ring and theS-602-1 Spinner Back Plate.
Strep 2) I previously performed step 2, so go to the next step.
Step 3) I riveted the two items together with AN470AD4-5 rivets,
Step 4) Bolted the Spinner Back Plate Assembly to the S-603 Spinner Front Plate to the Hartzel propeller hub with AH4H4A bolts and 3 each AN960-416 washers. And torque to 60 in/lbs each since there AN$ series bolts. These MUST also be wire tied to prevent movement. Then added the Spinner Back Plate Assembly to the four factory supplied bolts and torque to 200 in/lbs.
Step 5) Cut a piece of cardboard to the propeller blade cut-outs in the fiberglass S-601-1 Spinner. I started by using a Hartzell supplied template that was useful but needed further modification for this propeller.
Step 6) Using a piece of #18 gauge wire I measure the exact 180 degree (opposite) circumference point of where I made the first mark on the edge of the S-0601 Spinner. This is necessary for the template.
Step 7) Lay the template on the S-0601 Spinner at one of the created reference marks and trace. Then using the 180 degree mark repeat.
Step 8) Trim with a die grinder disk the area marked by the template.

Step 1) I taped the edges of the propeller where they contact S-0601 Spinner during the fitting process. This is where you progresses through sanding steps to achieve a perfect fit for the Propeller Blades as they move (rotate) forward and aft. This is accomplished by protecting the propeller blades with tape and clamping a set of 2X4 lumber and rotating the blades through there full movement and trimmin
