Manual Reference:  Oil Cooler Install
Brief Description:  Niagara Thermal 20006A Oil Cooler

04/15/2012

I ordered the Oil Cooler from Vans for the X-10. What I ordered was a Stewart-??? 20006A Oil cooler and what I received was a Niagara Thermal (as in Niagara Falls, N.Y. ) 20006A Oil Cooler with 13 individual cooling fins. I checked and it’s a very good brand and is legal for a production aircraft. The pressure drop at 60 PSI is less that 2 psi and at 20 psi it’s less than 0.5 psi. The install was pretty straight forward. I added some anti-seize to the threads of the AN823-8D and AN822-8D fitting to prevent “galling” because it’s soft aluminum.

Time about 2 hour to install and photograph.
