Brief Description:  U-1001 L/R Main Landing Gears Legs Mounting to the

SECTION 46-04 Engine Mounting and Landing Gear

Sept 25th

Step 1.. I located both of the U-1001 L/R Main Landing Gears Legs ( there very heavy ) and after greasing slid the Left Gear Leg into the bottom of the Landing Gear Mount Socket. With some pushing and twisting the gear leg ended up at the top of the WD-1021 –L Landing Mount. I purchased a new 5/16” drill bit or .312 or 7.8 mm for Final Drilling the leg. I made sure that I was very precise with the Final Drill effort as any amount off would affect the Toe-In or Toe-Out of the Main Gear Tire causing uneven tire ware. The fit was tight but the drill bit did hit the “bottom” of the hole and I final drilled to the prescribed 5/16”.
Step 2, Now that I have drilled the holes perfectly I removed the U-1001 L/R Main Landing Gears Leg from the WD-1021 –L Landing Mount. Now that they were fully greased they removed somewhat easier. This enabled me to deburr the hole I had just drilled.
Step 3, Now again applied a little more grease to the U-1001 L/R Main Landing Gears Legs before reinserting them into the WD-1021 –L Landing Mount. Then bolted in place with a AN5-24A bolt, AN960-516 washer, AN365-524 nut and torque to 130 in/lbs. Repeated for the Right Main Landing Leg. The fitting of the Main Landing Gears Legs.

Time about 2.5 hours because I was working slow and exact to be sure to get the fit 100% correct.
