Step 1, I located and placed the WD-1023 Gas Strut Attach Bracket on the C-1001 Cabin Cover between the bolts in the WD-1019 Hinge Brackets. After positioning the Gas Strut Attach Bracket I realized that I needed enough room for the McMaster-Carr door gasket (seal). So I made a spacer out of stock aluminum that allowed a little over 1/8 inch to lower the Gas Strut Attach Bracket allowing the door seal to fit properly without cutting into the gasket/seal material. With this corrected I continued to mount the WD-1023 Gas Strut Attach Bracket with Spacer onto the C-1001 Cabin Cover with AN509-10R11 bolts, AN960-10 washers and MS21042-3.
Step 2, I previously fabricated a temp Bracket Locating Bar out of 1/8 inch X 3 /4 inch aluminum stock. Cut the Bracket Locating Bar to 8 and 1/2 inches and drilled perfect 5/ 16 inch holes at 7 and 7 /8 inch apart.
Step 3, Created four C-1016B Bushing from AT6-058 X 5/16” aluminum tubing. Each Bushing was cut to exactly 9/16 “ in size.
Step 4, Located the C-1013 Gas Strut Attach Brackets and cut into its two halves.
Attach the C-1016B Bushing into each end of the Bracket Locating Bar. Then add the AN3 bolts, AN960-516 washers and AN365-1032 nuts. Then attach the Bracket Locating Bar to the WD-1023 Gas Strut Attach Bracket. Close the C-1002 L Door and latch it closed with pieces of the McMaster-Carr door gasket (seal) in places. See Figure 2 for placement information. Being sure that the C-1013 Gas Strut Attach Brackets are perfectly in line with the WD-1023 Gas Strut Attach Bracket I drilled #30 size Match Holes using the Gas Strut Bracket as a drill guide being careful not to drill through the top of the Door Skin.
On August 7 and 8th, lots of fitting with the locks and pin guides, sanding, Super-Fil, Flox and sanding on both of the C-1002 L / R Doors.
Time about (at least) 10 hours.
