Brief Description:  Aeropoxy Door Shell Together Left and Right

SECTION 45-05

July 5th, 2010

Step 1, I located the bag of parabeam fiberglass and cut 4 pieces as described in figure 1.
Step 2, masked off the rain channel or gutter of the fuselage where the door meets with white plastic and duck tape to prevent any glue from sticking.
Step 3, I purchased at Sun-n-Fun a type of epoxy with a cure time of at least 2 hours. So with temps in the mid 90’s I should have nothing to worry about. The stuff is called “Aeropoxy” and is just now starting to harden at 3 hours. I could have go across town for a picnic dinner and retuned and still had time to fiddle with the door shells. Anyway I brushed the stuff on both inside and outside door shells where directed by figure 1 and 2 page 45-2.
Step 4, Taking two of the cut parabeam fabrics I immersed in the Aeropoxy resin and then placed on the proper places on the inside door.
Step 5, Now taking 3 cups of Aeropoxy and 1 part of Aeropoxy harder mixed together for about 10 oz. I added some Cab-O-Sil to stiffen up the mix and brushed onto both the inner and outer door shells rather thicker than what was called out for in order to obtain a good bond.
Step 6, I don’t know why but the directions say to place a cleco at the lower edge fwd and aft at the window edge from the C-1002A L Door Outer Shell. Then place the Door shells together and add couple cleo’s at the top fwd and aft of the window ledge and cleco the assembly together.
Step 7, I place the C-1002A-L door inner shell and C-1002B –L door outer shell onto the fuselage door opening and clecoed it to the fwd and aft index holes. Then inserted clecos that attach to the door to the fuselage, and then the cleos around the window ledge perimeter. Finally using the entire clamp collection and a couple milk jugs filled with water I secured the door to the frame of the fuselage securely.

Time about 9 hours
