Brief Description:  Canopy Frame

After drilling splice plate to WD-716 front frame, taking everything apart, deburring, countersinking, etc, I riveted together. Rear bracket to 631 frame was drilled after a little re-alignment. Pay close attention to th eplans and visualize how the glass will sit. And, a new part came in - another builder posted a console for sale that he built from a kit (from here http://www.aircraftextras.com/Console.htm ). I am debatin gthe whole console thing - I like the idea of one, have been comfortable with the one on the DA-40 I flew back in Bloomington, but it can hinder access underneath the panel. But this one is made to screw into existing floor pan holes, so it is removeable. Plus, I am designing access to all the electronics through the panel (eg remove an EFIS) or from above when the canopy is open, and in the very front behind the firewall I will have 2 access panels on the outside. Also received in thi spurchase was the throttle seen in the pic, and the Andair fuel valve extension kit. I now need to machine an interface between the extension rod and the existing Van's supplied fuel valve - and it must be bulletproof and NEVER fail. The other option is to just buy Andair's wonderful fuel valve, which will directly couple to the extension ki. This route will set me back $205. I will discuss fabricating an interface with Bloomington friend John Burrill, who in his 70 years has crafted many things and has a metal milling machine.
