Fellow builder Chad Jensen (RV-7) came over and helped rivet the rest of the main skin - it was smooth and fast working with an experienced builder (thanks Chad). I used the squeezer for skin/rear spar, then violated various child labor laws and put Austin to work when he came home - we wrapped up the center J-stringer rivets (pic). Note on technique - Van's suggests a better rivet set when done by backriveting (a large mushroom bar holding the flush head down, while someone backrivets the other side into a head. I did tests with this and using the flush swivel set/gun on the outside (per the pic) and tungsten bar on the inside - I and others felt the rivets were as good or superior using the latter method. Running 45 PSI to the gun, and the tungsten bar usually set the head in a one second burst. Backriveting took about three seconds, and lead to some rivets needing drilling out. Thus, the flush swivel set/tungsten bar was done for the rest.
