Brief Description: Removed vert stab/Riveted etc/push rod installed
We took the vertical stabilizer back off, riveted the 981 attach plate, tie down bracket, and the elevator up stop. (See Image #1) I drilled out 4 rivets that were riveted in error 9 months ago when I was at Alexander’s. They were on the lower vert. stab. skin and were to be left open for the empennage fairing. This would have been very difficult then but today they came out easily. What a difference 9-10 months make... We then installed the push rod from the stick to the elevator bell crank. (See Image #2) Some of the washers were difficult to get in and again we were glad that someone had suggested months ago how valuable washer wrenches were! The task was done which without them would have been all but impossible......Tomorrow I guess we have to do our first glass work putting end plates in the vert. and horz. stab. caps.....We are now at 675 hours of build time.
