Brief Description: Assembled, primed & riveted flap motor componets/D
Claude was sick today so I worked alone. I first had to prime all the parts for the flap mechanism that we had fabricated. While waiting on the primer to dry, I drilled a safety hole in the extreme end of the flap actuator rod. It had to be drilled at an angle so as to clear the lock nut that you can see in Image 3. The hole is indicated by the red arrow. I used a 1/16 th drill and broke the first one. The second was not sharp enough to go through this harded steel. I was able to get a cobalt one from Eldridge Hardware and it finally was drilled successfully...... I then did some countersinking and dimbling and then began riveting together all the parts that we had been fabricating over the last 3 days. In Image 2 you can see how they all fit together. This one small area had fabricated parts A,B,C,&D all fit together and riveted. Amazingly everything seemed to fit together well! ......... We are closing in on finishing things in the fuselage for a while and will need to do several things in the wings before they are mated to the fuselage.
