Brief Description:  Drilled rivet holes in left step/bolted up landing

Claude and I did a final check on the left external step and it seemed to fit fine so we drilled the external fange for the AN4 rivets. We still have to drill the plastic block and bolt it in........We then fit the right landing gear mount in place and bolted it to the main bulkhead. We still have to torque them and according to the Van's Airforce formum, we may find that the bolts are too short and we have to substitue 13's for 12's as called for in the plans. We then prepared to back drill the landing gear mount extension throught the stiffeners and the skin but found that the forward hole in the weldment is under a flange and can't be backdrilled. I have entered a thread on the Air Force forum to see what others did.....The NEW Lycoming O 320 160 HP engine was delivered today and is in the hangar. It is in a crate so we can't see it, darn it.
