I got back information from Van's that the extra notch (see picture 1, and last entry) is fine, as long as the flange is cut correctly. It is, so I went ahead:Step 17 - Mark the bend line on the spar. Pretty easy, just need a bit of measuring and a ruler.Step 18 - Drilling the relief hole wasn't very hard, but using the unibit was. Since it isn't really a hole, but a notch, I had to hold the unibit tight in the hole. Reversing the drill occasionally also helped. Cleaned up the flange cuts and the notches with a file and scotch-brite pad and my newly mounted debur wheel (which make edges easy!).Step 19 - I'm not sure exactly what this step is for. I guess they just want to make sure you don't have too much flange and if your flange is further than the notch/relief hole, you are suppose to cut the flange to match. For me, it was already lined up with some minor filing on one or two of the edges to straighten them up.
