Back when I have my panel cut I also made a fuel-selector panel out of aluminum with cut-out letters. I made a piece of lexan to the same size with a rough finish. I sandwitched the lexan between the two layers of the selector panel and added some LEDs to backlight the lettering. I still need to paint the edges of the lexan, but it looks pretty cool so far. I am thinking that I will use white LEDs and then a green filter under the Left and Right positions and Red under OFF. The ligting is not perfectly even since I had to space the LEDs around the selector, but it is close enough.
