Brief Description:  Seats 1

Today I received my new seats in the mail. The lead time was >3months, so I was very excited to try them out. The seats are the CA-1 model from Classic Aero. They are very well made and look great out of the box.

After putting them in the plan I was a bit disappointed. The seat bottoms don't fit the contour of the seat pan very well and the bottoms are on the short side. In defence of the seats, I am tall so the seats are as far aft as I could put them. I have been in contact with Classic Aero and their customer service has been great. It turns out that I am only the second person to order thesze seats for an RV-6 (the other is in Germany). The seat were computer designed for the 7/9 and modified for the -6. It appears they didn't get it quite right. CA offered to make me a custom set of seats at no charge.

After some more discussion and measuements we decided to first try out their sportsman-series seats since they are 1.5" longer and have a different contour. I bought the CA-1 seats since they are the thinnest that CA makes (and I'm tall). Luke a CA said they can take 1/2" off the sportsman seats so they will be only a tiny bit thicker than the CA-1 seats. After we spoke yesterday they shipped out a test-seat today for me to try. If the loaner seat works, they will make a set in my colors and material. The sportman seats are an upgrade from the CA-1 seats at no extra charge. CA has really been great to work with! They decided to drop the RV-6 version of the CA-1 seats from their line for now. They plan to do an RV-6 specific design in the near future so they will be a better fit.
