Brief Description:  Engine Cooling Plenum 3

Today is the day. I decided to go ahead to layup the composite onto my foam and tape mold. Before I moved forward, I decided to adjust the contour of the intake ramps to make them more gradual on on the side towards the center of the engine. I cut some of the tape off and removed more material. I them put new tape back over these areas. I taped more plactic around the engine and put fresh tape over all the metal. I cut all my fiberglass to size and made whatever reliefe cut I though I needed. I also added the foam support that will form the flange that will later attach the front intake portion of the plenum to the metal baffles.

I put 4-5 coats of car wax over the tape to act as a mold release. I left the haze from the last coat on thinking that may help a bit. I started with a layer of lightweigh BID (bi-directional) cloth. I mixed my resin in small batches to reduce waste and extend the pot life (larger batches cure faster). I am using PolyEpoxy which has a very long pot life (almost two hours) so there is plenty of working time.

For application I had a 2" bruch with the bristles cut short, a 3" foam roller, and a laminating roller (a ribbed metal roller made specifically for this stuff).
