Brief Description:  Main Spar and Ribs Final Prep for Assembly

I got a lot of work done today and will have to split it across multiple log entries.

I finished installing the nutplates on the main spar, did some final deburring, prep for primer, and dimpling.

I primed both before and after installing the nutplates to give the best possible protection since the screws are a possible point of entry for moisture.

I then proceded to cut the holes in the main ribs for the wiring conduit. For the right wing, I am running two 1/2" conduits. One runs is for the landing/strobe/position lights and the other is for a possible antenna or remote compass for an EFIS. While building the left wing I made a jig for drilling the ribs so I don't have to measure out every single hole. The jig is just a board with large rivets stuck in holes acting as locating pins that fit into the tooling holes on the rib. Since there are two types of ribs used on each wing (left and right facing flange), the jig has pins for both types.
