After I masked the canopy and frame for the width of the adhesive fillet (I made the fillet about double the width of the frame tubes), the surface was scuffed with red scotchbrite. The scuffed surface was cleaned with the sika activator and then primed with the proper sika primer. The primer is the most expensive step in the process. The primer is not fun to apply it dries extremely fast, so you cannot go over a section twice, it will just leave brush strokes. While not fun, I got the primer done and was happy with the result.
After the primer set up I went ahead and applied the adhesive to attach the canopy to the horizontal side members of the frame. This pulled the canopy into shape. I left that to set-up before messing with the rest.
