Today I removed the vertical stab from the fuselage and riveted on the forward attach plate. I also final-drilled the vertical stab to the horizontal. I finalized the up elevator stop and drill it to final size as well. You may notice that the forward edge of the stop is not parallel to the rear flange. The elevator horns as they come from vans aren't a perect match, so I adjusted the stop so that both horn contact at the same time. The gap between the ston on the vertical stab spar is per plans (filled with a spacer) to account for the offset in the vertical stab.

As the elevator is set up I have 27.6 degrees of up travel. The plans specify 25 min / 30 max. I would have liked to get a little closer to the max travel, but at the elevator horns are only about 1/8" away from contacting the rear bulkhead, so I left it with a bit of margin.

I also fitted the rudder. All the hinges lined up perfectly and it went right on.
