I haven't updated my log in a while (or done that much work over the last 4 weeks either). I was out of town for a couple weeks and also had a number of around the house chores to take care of.
I finally got back to work on the 10th. Progress has been slow, I have been working on the trimming / fitting of the canopy to the canopy frame. I consider this a high-risk activity since the canopy costs $1000 and there are no go-backs if I crack it or make a major mistake. Because of this, I have been taking my time making small cuts and carefully deburring / polishing the edges immidiately after I make the cut.
Today I put the canopy on the bench and marked the centerline using a laser and straightedge. I then placed the slider frame inside on the centerline and moved the frame for/aft to find the position that best fits the canopy contour. None of the positions are all that great of a fit, so it will take some work for sure.
Once I found the best location for the frame, I marked and drilled the hole in the canopy for the canopy latch. I also marked the bottom of the canopy rails and a line well aft of the rear bow so I could trim the molding flanges off the canopy.
