I'm using the Super Tracks mod for the canopy and ordered the RV-8 canopy rail and spacer from Van's instead of using the extension that comes with the kit. The RV-8 spacer has a different bend on the end than the RV-7 spacer. Since the mod extension is only 10 inches, I could cut off the bend on the spacer, and re-bend it to match the RV-7 and still have plenty of material. Cut the existing bend off the spacer and then use a piece of 2 inch diameter PVC pipe to bend new angle to match the plans. Rail came as flat stock so I had to make small bend in the end to match RV-7 rail, then bend to match the spacer. With that done I marked the centerline and rivet spacing per the plans and made my own rivet spacing for the extra length. Drilled the spacer then clamped on the rail and match drilled. Did not drill any mounting holes yet, those will be done once final location for the rail is set. Countersunk the holes on both sides for double flush rivets.
