Brief Description: Drill F-7114 Gussets, Drill Right F-782 Cover
I drilled up the right F-7114 gusset to #30, then #19 for bolts and inserted some spare bolts and hardware store nuts and washers. Used this as a reference point to attempt to locate the F-782D angles. I tried using a piece of angle clamped to the existing brackets to set the location for the angle but had no luck. Did some research on VAF website and found technique of clecoing the F-782 cover on and using it to draw a reference line on the side. Removed the cover and used double sided tape to hold the angle parallel to the reference line. Drilled the angle to fuselage using a drill stop to be sure and only drill through the inner part of the structure. Removed and deburred the holes. Cleco'd the angle and cover in and checked location for screws to angle. Pre-marked location was good.
The left F-7114 did not fit well initially. Had to tweak the angle of the flange and grind a little off, as well as make the rivet clearance notch as on the right side. Finally got it to fit well and bolted it to the spar. Alignment checked and drilled #40, then #30 and finally #19. Inserted spare bolts and nuts as on the right side and marked location for angle using the cover.
