Brief Description:  Spraying the first 2 coats of PPG K38 High build p

I had a tough day in the hanger with today, learning how to spray PPG K 38 primer properly. My first mistake was making too large a batch and which turned into gel before I could finish the job ,and it also clogged my gun. Yuk!! First lesson learned is to use small batches of K38 and hardener and don’t waste time, this stuff is thick. Second lesson is use a 2.0 tip and 45 pounds of pressure; did I say this stuff in thick? The last lesson is to spray continuously on the part until it is done, slightly overlapping each pass and keeping the gun parallel to the work at a constant distance. I my case about 10” worked best. After the parts dried I still found some pin holes, though not too many. Here is where you want to take the thickened primer from your mixing cup and fill the remainder of the pin holes, just dab it on the pin hole and squeegee it into the hole with a credit card, scrape off the excess. This will all get sanded for the final coat of primer. Tomorrow, more parts to prime
