Today I build the lock blocks that hold the rear of the canopy in place and literally locks the canopy down when the forward latch is closed. This locks the entire canopy in place to the frame of the plane, is very strong and will resist the suction created on the canopy while flying. Although this operation looks like an easy part, the Delrin block has to be drilled at a 23 degree down angle at the same time a 4 degree inward angle to compensate for the tapering shape of the fuselage. Also, two AN 3 bolts hold the block straps to the longeron and they need to be exactly in the middle of the longeron while missing the cross frame. Care, measuring and a spare Delrin block or two saved the day and the pins fit perfectly with absolutely no slop. Next time in the shop I will finish riveting down the rails and bolt the rear track in place, and maybe start on the canopy skirts. I thought the canopy might take two weeks to build, but now I can see it taking a month.
