Brief Description:  Bonding the canopy to the frame

Today was canopy bonding day and it was very nerve racking. Les and Rafael helped me and I needed six hands to get it done in the two hour working time. It went well and I was pleased with the bond and its strengths. My thoughts on using the Sika Flex system:

1.Tape carefully and use good quality tape from the paint store if you want good lines from the black primer

2.Six hands are the optimum, use one on the front of the frame, one on the back and one inside to smooth out the Sika Flex.

3.Work quickly but don’t get sloppy, lots of surgical gloves and tongue depressors, this is really messy stuff.

4.Best temperature is 70 degrees. Warmer means less time, colder and the Sika is too stiff.

5.After you bond, let it sit for at least 3 days before pulling the spacers

6.Hold the frame at least ¾” less than the rail width to allow for the spring back.
