Brief Description:  Horizontal Injection Induction System

Today I started the horizontal injection induction system, or at least I think this is what you call it. This is how you get the filtered air into the engine. As you can tell, this is one creative fiberglass fabricated part. I'm glad I don't have to mould this thing; it would take weeks to do it properly. I read through the instructions for mounting and for all practical purposes they will not work well enough to get the fit that I'm looking for. I made the front floor of the air inlet a separate piece from the baffle the curves around the #2 cylinder. This will allow me the luxury of removing the piece while leaving the rest of the assembly in place. I also believe I’ll get a better fit around the filter unit and the fab bypass. I did start by mounting the unit to the engine making sure there are adequate clearances for the starter. Then you need to mark and drill the mounting holes which is done while the unit is clamped into place, I used an "L" shaped scribe versus the flashlight shine through the hole technique which is described in the instructions. That was just not accurate enough. I used the gasket to mark the last hole on the top left which is just impossible to get to. Well it fit perfectly and did not need to make any of the holes oversize. Next is the filter frame and retainer, another 2 day project I'm sure, but that's ok, it beats working.
