This ‘D” connector is necessary in my mind for maintenance and proper power and sensor distribution. It takes a little patients to wire them up, but the results are good and if I need to replace the stick grip with the switches, this make it possible. I do need to change the location slightly so there is no chaffing of the wire, but this is an easy task since the bracket is held in with 2 pop rivets.
