Last week I received the static ports from Avery which are much nicer the using a drilled out pop rivet. Also, because they are threaded for the tube fittings I feel they are a much better design. They certainly will not come apart from vibration, and if you plan to fly IFR, why take any risks. The pictures are kind of self explanatory, I will mount the ports (one on each side of the plane) using Pro-Seal and route the tube as described in Van’s Static Port packages. He shows the tube routed using standard tie wraps around the frame and down the side under the longeron, so I plan to follow this plan. I will take this as far as the wing for now and finish as it joins the wing plumbing a little later on in the building process.
