Brief Description:  Pushtubes and canopy slide rails

This morning I started to take the airplane apart so I can work on the canopy and paint the interior. I is difficult to pull things apart after working so hard to put it all together. It really feels like I/m going backwards even though this is standard practice for building metal airplanes. I carefully pulled the push tubes out which have been adjusted to the proper length and used Locktite on the lock nuts and after tightening them added a bead of inspection lacquer. This isn’t really called for in the plans, but it is a good idea in my mind and will help when I do the annual inspections. I also fabricated the canopy rails from the extrusion provided in the kit. They require some tapering at the end and # 40 pilot holes for attachment to the rail sill. I will be working on the canopy stuff for some time, so let’s hope my notes aren’t too boring. Vans warning in the instructions are pretty straight forward, he said this is the most difficult part of build the RV 7, take your time and work for a really good fit.
